Columbus Day - Celebrate America!

Head over Hudson Park today in honor of Columbus Day. Starting at 3pm , meet fellow New Rochelleans and  parade marchers, as they celebrate the man who "discovered America".  Now I will not get into the controversy that claims Columbus was not responsible for the discovery- I will leave that to historians. Drive, walk or ride your bike over to Hudson park, because the Pinta, Nina and  Maria are in the shop for repairs.

The explorer Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he accidentally stumbled upon the Americas in 1492.

Virgil Scott- Man with the Band

Virgil Scott
Keeping my fingers crossed that the forecast is rain free this evening for Virgil Scott's big band performance at the Hudson Park Bandshell.   A mainstay in nightclubs, corporate shows, and festivals throughout Canada.  This 6 piece band is as good as it gets, delivering strong R&B with lots of soul.

Virgil  has enjoyed an impressive theatrical career, appearing in such productions as Bye Bye Birdie, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and the Toronto production of Hair. You may recognize his voice from various jingles throughout the years, such as Hostess Chips, Diamond Cheese, Molson, Labatt's, The Bay, and Sears.  In addition to his musical endeavors, Virgil is also a member of the Child Find organization, and has recently received official recognition as the authorized musical spokesperson for Child Find Ontario.
